America's Great Loop Smith Island, Maryland

Docking the Boat for the First Time

Two days following Elliot’s wrist injury, we moved the boat from Smith Island to Crisfield, Maryland. With our captain out of commission due to his wrist break, Jenn took over the captain duties and got the boat off the dock, crossed Tangier Sound, and docking us, twice, at the marina in Crisfield. It was nothing short of many of our days on the boat where learning something new is just part of our day. Jenn successfully docked the boat at the pump out dock and then again in a slip, with Elliot’s help. It was a very exhausting day, but we’re happy to have made it safely, and as Jenn said, “without crashing!”

Our last morning on Smith Island was beautiful.

The crab shacks and crab boats are common to the Chesapeake Bay, but don’t go unnoticed to us as tourists.
